hello + welcome

I'm Gabrielle McMillan, a Sydney-based features and creative writer with a weakness for opaque black tights, reggaeton dancing, chicken-salted chips and stringing words together.

In the past decade, I’ve worked as a writer, chief sub-editor, deputy editor and managing editor on titles including Weight Watchers magazine, Cosmopolitan, DOLLY, Mother & Baby, Pregnancy & Birth and The Canberra Times.

In addition to my editorial experience, my writing has appeared on websites, including Mamamia and Weight Watchers Online,and in journals and anthologies, such as GOfish, This Is Writing, Take It As Red, Lip and First.

An out and proud nerd, I’m also the recipient of the University Co-op Bookshop Prize For Most Outstanding Creative Writer, Gordon Burgoyne Memorial Prize For Most Outstanding Journalism Student and ABC Triple J Heywire ACT award (read about that here).
